The new Actros, a modern truck for safety and comfort, enters the Latvian market

The latest Mercedes-Benz model in the truck segment, the Actros, equipped with unprecedented novelties for serial models, has become available to customers in Latvia. The emphasis is on digitised safety and driver support system solutions that provide a high level of comfort for the driver. The new Actros is offered by SIA Domenikss, general representative of Daimler AG in Latvia.

Wise in planning, economical on the road
A cabin featuring multimedia displays with enhanced driver and vehicle communication, a wide range of digital solutions and a variety of driver assistance systems - these aspects make the new Actros set an unprecedented quality standard in the truck segment.

“This vehicle is designed to make the work of not only drivers, but also that of fleet managers and logistics professionals as easy as possible - thanks to the comprehensive connectivity of the new Actros, it is possible to monitor trucks in real time without installing any additional external systems, thus eliminating interruptions and delays. This allows one, for example, to easily organise all maintenance and logistics events and provide immediate assistance in the case of an emergency,” says Aivis Zapereckis, Truck Sales and Marketing Manager at SIA Domenikss. He mentions the fuel consumption of the new Actros as another special advantage - it has been reduced significantly compared to the previous model, which was already the leader with the lowest fuel consumption on the market, allowing one to save up to 3% on highways and up to 5% on regional and rural roads.

Digital, secure and comprehensively connectable
To further improve safety and driver comfort, Mercedes-Benz has fitted semi-automatic steering to its truck models - the new Active Drive Assist is able to steer itself on the road where line markings are available; moreover, across the entire speed range. While Active Brake Assist 5 assists the driver in detecting a potential collision with an obstacle or collision with a pedestrian in different situations on the road. If necessary, the system automatically applies the maximum braking force until movement is stopped completely.

“The new Actros also comes with a range of other digital solutions,” says Aivis Zapereckis. “For the first time in truck history, standard MirrorCam rear-view cameras with monitors in the cabin improve aerodynamics, but the intelligent cruise control Predictive Powertrain Control (PPC) can be effectively used from low speeds already, even on rural roads and in cities, thanks to updated map data. While the main source of information in the driver's cabin in the standard version includes two interactive screens that visualise assistance systems and display all the information topical for the driver.”

Moreover, by using Apple CarPlayTM or Android Auto, the new Actros can be connected to the data cloud via smartphone and Truck Data Centre, thus providing all the connectivity solutions.

Improved design
When designing the Actros, its designers have always focused on drivers' convenience, so the designing work began from inside of the vehicle. As a result, the interior of the truck has been improved with new concept cabin lighting features, a new design steering wheel, widescreen touchscreens, and modern, high-quality surface and trim materials. Abandoning conventional exterior mirrors makes the Actros body smoother, while the dynamic design of the MirrorCam cameras and the distinctive headlights with LED daylight technology provide the new Mercedes-Benz Actros with an advanced look.

“All the improvements in the Actros , both in technology and design, have been made keeping in mind both the driver, who has to spend many hours in the cabin, and the environment in which the vehicle is moving. The result is a 21st century truck where the main priority is no longer just freight, but also that the people who transport from one point to another do so safely and with minimal damage to the environment,” says Aivis Zapereckis, Truck Sales and Marketing Manager at SIA Domenikss.

In Latvia, the Mercedes-Benz Actros can be ordered from the German company Daimler AG general representative in Latvia SIA Domenikss dealership.
